Senvawn Village – Birthplace of Christianity in Southern Manipur!

Senvawn (Anglicised as Senvon) is a Hmar village in Pherzawl district, Northeast India, known as the ‘birthplace’ of Christianity in Southern Manipur. In 1910, Welsh missionary Watkin Roberts introduced Christianity to the Hmar and neighbouring tribes in this village. Established by Pahum Pulamte, Seilutpa Puruolte, and Lalchawn Pudaite, the village had 498 households and a population of 3,136 according to the 2011 census. The official language spoken here is Hmar.
