First Female Pilot among the Hmar tribe | Grace Zarzo Khawbung
Ms. Grace Lalzarzo Khawbung, d/o R. Tawna Khawbung of Sielmat, Manipur, is set to become the first commercial female pilot among the Hmar tribe. She started her career as a Cabin crew member at Qatar Airways 13 years ago and earned her way up to become a Cabin Service Director (CSD). She earned her commercial pilot license in April 2025 and is currently set to undergo the selection process for pilot placements. It is also learnt that she was selected as a Brand Ambassador for Qatar Airways in the recent 55th edition of the Paris Air Show.
Ms. Khawbung hails from the Hmar tribe and was once crowned ‘Miss Sikpuiruoi’ in 2005, a festival celebrated by the Hmar people at the state level in Manipur.
