Lengmaser (Elsholtzia Griffith) | Hmar Hme
Lengmaser (Elsholtzia Griffith) is a shrub native to Nepal and northern Myanmar and is also largely grown and eaten in Northeastern India. It has a distinct sharp ‘minty’ smell and is used as a spice (or a condiment) in various dishes of Hmar cuisine. Not only the leaves but even its flowers are edible! At most times, lengmaser is let to dry and is cooked with dolhro (taro leaves) or bal (yam).
