Sumbel: The ‘real pot’ to prepare food for a Hmar feast
These pots are known in Hmar language as ‘Sumbel’. They are used for cooking food during big festivals and other important public or private events. These ‘sumbels’ are also sometimes given to the Hmar newly wedded bride by her parents before moving into her husband’s household. Photo contributed by Oliver Intoate
