‘Tap’ or ‘Tapkil’ or ‘Tapsak’ is a fireplace in Hmar
Tap or Tapkil or Tapsak is a fireplace equivalent to a kitchen in Hmar language. It is a place where the women prepare food for the entire family. The fireplace is usually located at one corner of the house and during winter, it is one of the favourite spots for both young and old people. Photo contributed by Oliver Intoate
