Tlangram Hmarcha – Hmar Hme

Tlangram Hmarcha, which translates to “Hills’ Chillies,” is a variety of chili with a stronger pungent kick, a thing which it is known for and is (largely) grown in Pherzawl district, where the Hmar people live. Tlang Hmarcha is generally dried under the sun, after which it is directly stored or sold; it is also roasted without oil and crushed to make roasted chili powder, locally known as ‘Hmarcha Phit.’ Hmarcha phit is a core ingredient in Hmarchadeng, a delicacy of the Hmar people.
